Mythology, Medievalism and More

12 midday Wednesday 14 May

Wedmore Village Hall BS28 4EQ

With medieval tales of Britain’s mythic past and her trademark elision of stories, histories, pictures and songs, author Dr Amy Jeffs will explore how the lore of sites local to Wedmore and the southwest came to shape ideas of what Britain is and where it came from.

Her book Storyland: A New Mythology of Britain was a Sunday Times bestseller and shortlisted for Waterstones Book of the Year and was followed by Wild: Tales from Early Medieval Britain in 2022 and Saints: Medieval Legends of Heroes, Humans and Magic in 2024.

Her next book, Old Songs: stories of Love and Death from Traditional Ballads, will be published in September 2025.
