MASCULINITY, MODERN LIFE AND MANGOS
with comedian Marcus Brigstocke
7:30pm, Friday 16 May
Wedmore Village Hall BS28 4EQ
Friday night was the highly anticipated return of Marcus Brigstocke after at 10 year hiatus.
Wedmore Festival were over the moon to secure a date on his Vitruvian Mango tour. With trademark comedic style, he tackled modern issues facing society and specifically men. Highlighting suicide rates among young males and the rise of toxic influencers such as Andrew Tate. Marcus is clearly a female ally and it was so refreshing to hear a male voice recognise things like the vulnerability of a women walking alone late at night – and importantly what men can do to lessen their threat.
The section on male friendships was both funny and touching. This all sounds terribly serious, and whilst the subject indeed is, Marcus delivered it all with hilarity and self deprecation. A really memorably funny night.
Let’s hope we don’t have to wait another decade for his return.
