In this talk Alison is celebrating the wonderful wildlife which thrives on the nature reserves in the heart of Somerset. She is a volunteer at RSPB Ham Wall and will be basing the talk on her recently published book, “The Wildlife of the Avalon Marshes”, which is proving to be a local bestseller. It gives a short history of how the reserves came to be created, and then describes the creatures on the marshes month by month throughout the year, covering diverse species such as Bitterns, Marsh Harriers, Emperor dragonflies and Otters.

The talk will include amazing photos and videos by some of the local photographers who contributed their work to the book. In the foreword, Stephen Moss describes the book: “This is a beautifully written and authoritative volume. Having reached the end, I just wanted to go back and read the book all over again”.

Copies will be available at the talk for the discounted price of £20 and all profits will go to the RSPB.
