Patrons

Wedmore has long had a proud tradition of “punching above its weight”.  So it’s not surprising that some very distinguished personalities have welcomed the opportunity to lend their support to the future success of our popular annual Festival.  We welcome our Patrons….

Kate Adie spoke at a sell-out event in 2019, entertaining the packed hall with her tales of life as a journalist on the front line

The legendary Henry Blofeld also spoke in 2019, captivating his audience with hilarious stories of what it was like to be 78 – Retired!

Peter F Hamilton took part in a fascinating discussion about The Writing Life. A best-selling science fiction writer as well as a local resident, Peter’s support is doubly welcome.

Mark Hamlin played a huge role as President of Wedmore Opera and was instrumental in founding the Arts Festival as an extension: exceptional Arts in a Village setting. Mark’s support, albeit now from afar, is invaluable.

Michael Morpurgo writes for a very different audience and his event in 2016 was packed with local children. An early supporter of the embryonic Festival, we are delighted that Michael’s links with Wedmore continue.

Admiral Lord West, former First Sea Lord and much decorated veteran of the Falklands conflict as well as the invasions of Afghanistan and Iran, made an inspirational impact at the Swan in 2017.  An expert on national security and defence, his advice continues to be sought nationally and internationally.
