NOT SO SILENT MOVIE
Phantom of the Opera (1925)

St Marys Church BS28 4AA
Tickets: £10
Box office opens 14 April
Following last year’s successful live-scored screening of “Nosferatu”, St Mary’s Church will host another silent-film spectacular with Lon Chaney’s 1925 classic “Phantom of the Opera”, accompanied by a brand-new score performed live by local composer and organist Liam Davies.
The Phantom of the Opera is a 1925 American silent horror film adaptation of Gaston Leroux’s 1910 novel of the same name and starring Lon Chaney in the title role of the deformed Phantom who haunts the Paris Opera House, causing murder and mayhem in an attempt to make the woman he loves a star. The film remains most famous for Chaney’s ghastly, self-devised make-up, which was kept a studio secret until the film’s premiere.
Audience members are invited to dress up in suitable attire, or simply black and white, as part of what is set to be another truly memorable evening!
