Acclaimed Children’s Author visits Wedmore and Mark First Schools

Cinquains, kennings, riddles and rhymes.

The students of Wedmore First School & Nursery and Mark First & Pre-School CE Academy worked on their repetition and alliteration with creative writing and experimented with musical words and rhythm.

Visitor James Carter brought some creative chaos into school this week, challenging the children to think in new and unexpected ways. Spending time with everyone from Nursery through to Year 4 with readings from his books, ditties on his instruments and general silliness, he struck a spark of imagination. He even managed to get some of the teachers to show us their impressive dance moves.

Thank you James for such inspiring workshops. And thank you to all the brilliant students for engaging, participating and showcasing their work.

Looking back at the 2025 Festival!
