Simon Gillespie

7:30pm Monday 13 May

Simon Gillespie is known to a large section of the viewing public for his frequent and fascinating appearances on two of the BBC’s most popular Arts programmes Britain’s Lost Masterpieces and Fake or Fortune.

Here in Somerset, he is equally well known for his family connections: his father was one of the early pioneers of the English vineyard, producing award-winning wines in North Wootton, while his sister creates beautiful ceramics in Mudgley.

Building on a long-standing passion for Early British and Tudor portraits, Simon opened his studio in London in 1982. His practice now extends across all periods, and he is known as much for his extensive knowledge as an art historian as for his wide-ranging skills as a conservator-restorer.
